Recommended Skiing and Avoiding the Wally's
Purchase lift tickets at the base of the Christy lifts if skiing from the townhome. This will prevent you from having to deal with the crowds at Gondola Square . If you have purchased your tickets ahead of time climb the hill behind the townhome or walk up Burgess Creek Road to the Thunderhead Express Lift.
On a powder day, get up early and ski to either the Stormpeak Express or Sundown Express lifts and ski Closets or whatever suits you. If you are not early you will not get first tracks so consider skiing something lower on the mountain like Ted's Ridge. The lower mountain is often disregarded but awesome skiing can be found here including Oops, Concentration, Arrowhead Lift Line etc. Around 9:30 on a busy day the upper mountain high speed quads can develop lines. One way to avoid this is to ski the lower mountain off of the Thunderhead express lift or ski laterally across the mountain using the short South Peak and/or Elkhead lifts.
Avoid restaurants on the mountain between 11 and 1 p.m. Consider skiing down for lunch at the Tugboat or Slopeside Grill. Prices are reasonable and access is relatively easy.
When you think you've skied it all, ask a local about: The Land of the Little People, Todd's Stash, Sideburn, Hells Gate, Once is Enough, Wally World Trees, Fish Creek Canyon, and many other areas.
